Since Jesus is ‘greater than,’ we respond with faith, running with perseverance and discipline.  Each week we will remind ourselves…

Jesus is greater than…  therefore…

Hebrews says Jesus is greater than angels because His status as Son is greater than their status, and because his role as judge is greater than their role as ministering spirits.  Just as the appreciation of angels in the first century wasn’t bad, so our interest with angels isn’t wrong unless they take first place instead of Jesus.

Angles were commonly understood as Gods’ intermediaries in all the ways God relates to creation and to humanity in particular.  Generally, angels were understood to be messengers of God, who carried revelation- some new information, some words of wisdom, even some emerging truth.
