“Love is our way to God, for God is love.”

This Sunday, February 17, we explore the resurrection related to our call to LOVE.  Our focus scripture is 1 Corinthians 15: 1-20

Those who first celebrated Valentine’s Day were Christians.  These Christian did this because of Saint Valentine.  Yes, there is a Saint Valentine, and no he does not look like a little angle with a bow-and-arrow with hearts, wearing a diaper!  Saint Valentine of Rome, was supposedly a 3rd-century Roman saint associated with a tradition of love.

St. Valentine reminds me about Jesus.  As we move towards the season of Lent, in two weeks, and holy week, and the sacrificial love of Jesus, dying for love, dying for covenantal love.  There is something significant about Valentine’s Day occurring just as Lent begins and we move towards the cross, death, and rising- all in the love of Jesus.

Join us on Sunday as we explore the love of God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and how we are called to live in love.   Canadian Christian folk singer Steve Bell writes:

Love is our way to God, for God is love

Love is our way to God, for God is love

The only thing left for us to do is love
If this alone be done it is enough
And as we love the other God abides in us God unseen
Seen in love

May these lyrics inspire us as we go into our week:
