Jesus turns water into wine

This Sunday, January 20, we explore Jesus’ first sign from John 2: 1-11, turning water into wine.  We will explore the theme of transformation and this miracle of abundance.  

 

 “They have no wine,” she said.  With those words Mary speaks a truth about our lives, a truth that at some point we all experience.  The glass is empty.  The party is over.  On that day life seems empty and dry.

“They have no wine,” Mary said.  But they will.  The miracles always begin when the wine gives out.  Copious fine wine, unexpectedly appearing in a place of apparent scarcity, is a foretaste of what this new era of life in Christ will be like.  Jesus fills our lives to the brim with the good wine; intoxicating us with the life of God, and leaving us under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

This Sunday as a church family all are invited to come to the table of the Lord and to be restored.  We will celebrate Holy Communion.
