Anybody who’s been watching the Olympics knows all about the finish line. If you’re lucky enough to be one of the first three competitors to get there you win the prize.
It’s a game changer for any athlete who wins a medal. Recognition, financial security, admiration of your peers, not to mention a massive boost to your self esteem. You have to figure it’s worth the work to get there.
In the Bible, the Jesus disciple Paul says he’s racing toward the finish line and that he won’t stop until he “wins the prize”. (Philippians 3:14) Another time he says “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.” (1 Corinthians 9:25)
Leaves us with more than a few questions; What’s the training regimen? What’s the race, in what kind of game? Most of all, what’s the prize? Is it worth the work to get there?
