Canadians have always known that our country is blessed. And as a country, we’ve remembered one of the oldest teachings from the Bible: “We are blessed so that we can be a blessing to the people around us.”
Yes, we are a part of a sad colonialist history that we will continue to struggle with. But Canada has been faithful to the call to be a blessing in so many ways. For instance, did you know that Canada has welcomed over 1,100,000 refugees since 1980? We rank 1st among developed nations per capita in this regard. Pretty good.
Whatever our future as a country looks like, may we continue to find ways to be a blessing. Happy Canada Day weekend!
