There’s a scene in the Bible where Jesus is telling his disciples he has to leave. Understandably they’re stressed about that and feel the weight of worry about how they’ll manage in the days ahead without him. In that dialogue Jesus also promises them trouble. Three times in that conversation he promises them trouble. They will endure persecution, isolation, and pressure from outside forces.
But then, he promises them peace. Trouble, yes. But then, in the midst of trouble, peace.
We all feel feel the weight of worry and pressure. How does that work, peace in the midst of trouble? Join us this morning as Jesus gives us some direction. And know that the promise he left his disciples with he leaves with us as well: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
