This is my Dad and I with my sister Peggy standing behind.

I had just let him know I was going into church ministry. For whatever reason my Mom thought that would be a good time to snap a picture.
Dad was happy about it. Although, having gone 30 some odd years in that vocation, he might have wanted to ask “Are you sure?”. But he didn’t. I think he recognized a calling that was true.
Once heard, there’s not much you can do but follow.

You all have memories of your Father. Many of them are good because we do tend to paint the past with a brighter, lighter brush. Even then, for some of you, some of those memories aren’t. Because Dads, being human, aren’t perfect.

As you likely know, Jesus spoke of God as Father. When human love falls short, which it surely will from time to time, this love is perfect and everlasting. Each of us is invited to take our heavenly Father’s hand. It will hold you, run with you, and pick you up when you fall. Without fail. Today, and for every tomorrow.

Happy Father’s Day!
